New York, N.Y. -- A Brooklyn man found a gold statue in the trash and took it home not knowing it was actually an Emmy Award. Hazel Sanchez now says he is looking for the owner.
As the saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Ismael Cekic says this Emmy trophy he found in the garbage deserves to be with its rightful owner.
Cekic says he was walking in front of a home just a few houses away from his when he spotted the golden statuette in a box piled with other trash.
Cekic says he had no idea what he was holding onto until he saw the Emmy Awards on CBS.
The problem is, the trophy, believed to be from the 50s, was missing the band on its base saying who won the Emmy. Cekic says none of the families who lived at the home where it was found knew who it belonged to either.
