Winston-Salem, N.C. -- The congregation of a church in Winston-Salem has a neighbor to thank for helping catch a burglary suspect who was later found inside the sanctuary.
The neighbor who was walking a dog happened to be at the right place at the right time and called police after watching a man break through the door of Saints Delight Church using a crowbar.
Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department arrived at the church on Saints Delight Church Road and found Coby Lee Buchanan who was behind the alter looking out over the church. Investigators also discovered Buchanan broke into the fellowship hall and discharged a fire extinguisher causing an excessive mess. They also found a backpack with clothes and a crowbar inside the church.
Buchanan is charged with Two Counts of Breaking Into Place of Worship, MIP, Possession of Burglary Tools, Resist/Delay an Officer.
