Safety Harbor, Florida - 10 News spotted a waterspout that may have officially turned into a tornado on our tower cams Monday night shortly after 6:30 near the Courtney Campbell bridge.

It formed off of seabreeze collisions and outflow boundaries from other storms. The collision of the storms caused the rotation seen here.

The difference between a waterspout and a tornado is that a waterspout stays over water, but once it makes landfall, it is classified as a tornado.

Right now, preliminary reports from the National Weather Service in Ruskin say that on radar it looked like it came ashore, but our belief is that because the vortex was tilted at the base, it lifted before coming ashore. So part of the storm was over water, and it looked like came onto land. 10 News is waiting on official word.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says deputies saw the waterspout as it came ashore at 422 Shore Drive in Oldsmar. It reportedly damaged shingles on the home, knocked down branches, a tree, and a mailbox. Deputies say it also snapped a guide wire between two homes and blew out a transformer.

No injuries were reported.
