Little Rock, AR (KTHV) -- A Little Rock satirical news source reports, 'Local Man in Coma After Eating 413 Red Lobster Biscuits.' After the article went viral, the author of the article admitted it was a satire piece.

Greg Henderson said he was shocked to see how much international attention his story has received after being published this past weekend.

"Well it started off kind of as a joke," Henderson admitted after his headlines came out in the June 22 publication of Rock City Times.
He said he got the idea from a friend who happens to be a food critic who wanted to do a seafood review. So, their group of friends made a visit to Red Lobster for dinner.

"He really did actually like the biscuits. He only ate three of them, not 413," explained Henderson.

Henderson added it was intended to be a satire piece like most of the articles on his website, but the attention this article attracted, he said, was a bit overwhelming.

"It's been picked up in Australia, Canada, Italy and several other outlets in the United States," he continued.

Henderson also said that he would say about 50 percent of the readers thought it was real and the other 50 never believed anything he wrote past the headline.

"I carefully tried to throw in some red flags there," he explained.

One of the red flags was written as follows:

"Doctors believe the butter from the biscuits have blocked signals coming from Shalin's brain. In an early morning update hospital officials state that they have drained approximately 2 gallons of butter already."

There were several comments posted in response to his article.

"I love those biscuits but 400+...not sure there was an active brain there to be affected," one reader wrote.

"I think people are completely gullible--certainly the experience. There are a lot of writers and British tabloids known for this--about picking up stuff without any source, without really checking," Henderson concluded.

Maybe the story about that guy who ate 413 biscuits will be a good reminder to always check your facts and your sources.
