Greensboro, NC -- We take our phones with us almost everywhere we go, so why not use them to hunt for the best bargains at a yard sale? Here are three apps that may keep some extra money in your pocket:

  • Craigslist: There's a lot of garage sale tracking apps out there, but this old standby still is the most reliable and has the most listings for the Triad area. Just download, click on "For Sale" then "Garage Sale."
  • Quick Scan: Ever felt like you were getting a good price, but wanted to double check that it couldn't be found cheaper somewhere else? Quick Scan reads barcodes and then searches the Internet for where that product is on sale. Quick Scan is for Apple products while similar apps, like QuickMark Barcode Scanner, work with Android.
  • Google Goggles: No barcode? No problem! Google Goggles lets you take a picture of the item. It then searches for a similar image online to get pricing information. This works best with reproduced artwork or items that are not one-of-a-kind.
