Winston-Salem, NC - A group of fourth and fifth grade students in Winston-Salem officially set a world record for the largest Zumbatomic exercise class in a single venue.

The city's Mayor Allen Joines and the founder of Red H.E.A.R.R.T. (Help Educate And Reduce Risk Today), Cheryl Lindsay announced Tuesday that the Guiness Book of World Records certified their achievement.

The event took place February 1st for the 10th Annual National Wear Red Day; 1,121 students participated in a 30-minute Zumbatomic class.

The previous record was broken April 28, 2012 with only 383 children in Brownsville, TX, according to the mayor's office.

"I applaud Cheryl Lindsay and all the students who participated in setting this new world record." Joines said in a news release. "It was an innovative and fun way to motivate young people to get more exercise."

Zumbatomic is a type of Zumba specifically for children less than 15-years-old.
