Soldier Needs Money To Bring Dog Home From War

BUFFALO, NY (WGRZ) -- A soldier who is serving overseas is asking for help as he tries to rescue a four-legged friend he made while on duty.

Andrew Wahl, 25, is serving his second tour in Afghanistan.

His mother tells 2 On Your Side he found the abandoned puppy while out on patrol.

She says when Andrew comes home in February, she wants to make sure he can bring Thor back with him.

"You know, they kept each other warm, they comforted each other. And, with some of the situations he's been over there and suffering from, as many of soldiers do, PTSD, this dog is a comfort to him," said Bonnie Phillips, Wahl's mother. 

Four thousand dollars is needed to bring Thor back to the states.
