San Diego, CA -- The San Diego Zoo finally has a name for one of its newest addition.
The Zoo unveiled the name of its sixth giant panda in a public ceremony Tuesday.
His name is Xiao Liwu, meaning "Little Gift."
The Zoo follows the Chinese cultural tradition of naming the giant panda after 100 days old. The public was given an opportunity to select the cub's name in a two-part process. The Zoo received more than 7,000 submissions, and those were narrowed down to just six.
Nearly 35,000 votes were cast for the cub's name.
The person who submitted "Xiao Liwu"gave this explanation: "this cub is such a precious, little gift to our world."
