Let's face it, not everyone is doing the job we set out to do for one reason or another.

That said, if you could go back in time, would you choose the same career again?

Well check out this survey conducted by Parade Magazine and Yahoo Finance about career happiness.

About 60 percent of working Americans say they'd switch paths if they could do it all over again.

More than 26,000 people shared their attitudes toward work in the PARADE/Yahoo! Finance Job Happiness Survey. Why do so many Americans wish they could start over? Maybe it has to do with their managers: More than 35 percent would fire their bosses if they could. Or maybe it's about job advancement: 51 percent say the only way to get ahead at work is through "internal politics"-while "hard work" came in a distant second (27 percent).

On the up side, most of those currently employed feel secure in their jobs. More than 2 out of 3 are confident they'll still be working in five years. Most of those surveyed also enjoy working with their colleagues: Just over half would still be friends with them if they didn't work together.

How would Americans improve their jobs? If given a choice between a 5 percent pay raise or two more weeks of vacation per year, most (56 percent) would take the money. Would they rather improve their commute or their workspace? Almost 2 out of 3 would improve their workspace.
