Bob Tucker Retires From WFMY News 2

A member of the WFMY News 2 family is retiring.

Bob Tucker worked in Master Control at WFMY for 35 years. Before working in television, Tucker worked in sports radio. “My most memorable moment was interviewing Bobby Hall,” Tucker said. Hall was a NHL hall-of-famer who played for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Tucker told WFMY staff at his farewell party that he was offered a job at the station when the manager at the time said, “My man in Master Control dropped dead from a heart attack the other day, how soon can you start?”

“Working in Master Control is not for the faint of heart,” said WFMY News 2 President and General Manager Larry Audas. Audas ranked Tucker’s position as one of the most stressful jobs at a TV-news station.

“All you have to do is keep breathing and show up,” Tucker said.
