Dr. Hodge's Gold Jacket Passed To A&T Band Director

Greensboro, NC -- Most would say it was the passing of the torch but in this case it was a Gold Jacket at the NC A&T's game Saturday night. The family of former A&T Band Director Dr. Johnny Hodge presented Kenneth G. Ruff with the late band director's Gold Jacket. Dr. Hodge was one of the two band directors who took over the Aggie marching band in the late 70's, early 80's and is credited with making them the powerhouse that they are today. He also helped rename the NC A&T marching band the "Blue & Gold Marching Machine". Dr. Hodge died earlier this year, in May. Kenneth Ruff is the current Director of University Bands at NC A&T. He oversees the marching band, symphonic bands and the concert and prep bands. He also creates the drill designs for the marching band and is responsible for the organization and planning of the band program.
