WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Angelcare Monitors Inc. is recalling 600,000 of its Movement and Sound baby monitors due to two infants that were strangled to death by the cords.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Committee says the cord attached to the baby monitor's sensor pad can strangle a child's neck if the child pulls the cord into the crib.
Angelcare is offering customers a repair kit that has protective cord covers and a new electric cord warning label with revised instructions.
The baby monitors were sold at Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Walmart and Sears, among other stores.
CPSC advises consumers to immediately make sure cords are placed out of reach of the child and to contact Angelcare toll-free at (855) 355-2643 or contact them on their website.
