Cleveland, OH--- Nicole Miller could be a completely different girl in a few months.
The 8-year-old first-grader at Mansfield Christian School received a new kidney which she named Sid from Wendy Killian, who was her kindergarten teacher last year.
Nicole suffers from a genetic disorder that includes malformations of the ear, hearing loss and malformations of the kidney.
Nicole was born with only one kidney. The organ malfunctions, leaving her frequently tired. She often misses school.
Her parents hope those days will be behind her.
"For her to be able to feel good and not live in a fog because her body's not able to dispose of waste properly ... seeing what she's going to be like is the exciting part for me as a parent," said Brian Miller, her father.
