Christianbrug, VA -- Police say the suspect in a shooting that wounded two women at a Virginia community college legally purchased his weapon and told investigators after the shooting he "was having a bad week."

The Christiansburg Police Department said Monday that Neil A. MacInnis legally purchased the 12-gauge shotgun allegedly used in Friday's shooting from a licensed firearms dealer. They said nine shell casings were recovered from the New River Valley Mall, the location of a satellite office for New River Community College. The ammunition recovered included slugs, buckshot and bird shot.

Investigators also said they have found no links between the 18-year-old suspect and his two victims, who are recovering from their wounds. MacInnis is charged with four felony counts. He appeared in court Monday but did not enter a plea.
