Nashville, TN (WTVF) - Strong thunderstorms moved through parts of Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama on Monday.
The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado moved through Rutherford County, Tennessee. The NWS team said the tornado damaged at least 10 homes. They also said an EF-1 tornado moved through Dickson County, Tennessee. According to one homeowner, several large trees were uprooted during the storm that also damaged homes. Firefighters responded to a fire at a middle school after lightning struck the building. Students had to be taken to a nearby high school.
According to the Associated Press, Two people were injured by large hail as severe storms moved through Mississippi. One fire official said the baseball-sized hail damaged the windows of several cars in the Clinton area. Emergency crews also got calls of damage to homes in at least five counties in the state.
Storms knocked out power to at least 190,000 people in Alabama.
