-- Britain's Prince Charles, on a royal visit to Saudi Arabia, met members of the Saudi royal family and Saudi state and military officials on Saturday in the capital Riyadh.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are on a nine-day visit to the Middle East arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday.

The royal couple's trip comes less than a week after Saudi Arabia executed seven men for armed robbery despite an appeal for clemency by United Nations human rights investigators.

Human Rights Watch's deputy director for the region, Eric Goldstein, condemned the executions saying they were inhumane.

Asked whether Britain's Prince Charles should raise human rights when he visits the kingdom, he said: "We think everyone, every government, every third party that visits Saudi Arabia should make human rights a central part of the discussions with that country."

The royal couple's Middle East visit started in Jordan, where they toured ancient ruins and met religious leaders. They also visited the King Abdullah refugee camp near Jordan's northern border with Syria, which houses 1,200 people.
