New York, NY - One of the great New York City traditions, the St. Patrick's Day Parade, headed up Fifth Avenue Saturday. The parade is in it's 252nd year and nearly 2 million people were expected to line the streets. The parade started at 44th Street, goes past St. Patrick's Cathedral at 50th Street and ends at 79th Street.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg marched in the parade, along with dozens of high school marching bands, and other Irish-American civic and community groups from around the New York, New Jersey Area. A few hours into the parade heavy snow started to fall on the parade route. It didn't stick to the ground but made for a wet and white day for those marching at the end of the parade.
