Washington, DC -- Obama administration officials are now saying that when U.S. troops exit Afghanistan at the end of 2014, no American soldiers may be left behind. That's despite the Pentagon's view that some troops need to stay to keep a lid on al-Qaida.

White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes says as many as 15,000 residual troops are possible, but he says zero is also "an option we would consider."
