WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who skipped an overseas trip this past week because of a stomach virus, suffered a concussion after fainting, according to the State Department.

Clinton is currently recovering at home and being monitored by doctors. A White House aide said Clinton will work from home next week after doctors told her to do so.

Congressional aides, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they do not expect her to testify at the scheduled congressional hearings Thursday. The hearings are meant to address the Sept. 11 attack on a U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador.

The department told the media Clinton was dehydrated from her virus, which caused her to faint and then suffer the concussion.

No further details were immediately available.
