SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico  -- Former boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho has died after being taken off life support at his family's direction. The 50-year old had been unconscious since being shot in the face in a parked car outside of a bar Tuesday night. He was declared clinically brain dead by doctors on Thursday.

Camacho went into cardiac arrest this morning and was taken off life support shortly after that.

Camacho's three decade boxing career was marked by high profile fights with the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad and Roberto Duran. He won world championships in three different weight classes. He ended his career in 2010 with a record of 79-6-3, with 36 knockouts.
