Greensboro, NC --The Triad honors its troops when they're fighting overseas and when they come back home.
Tuesday was a very special one for a Piedmont mother. She got to be the first one to welcome her son home after a year serving in Afghanistan.
News 2 was with Judy Morris and family members at PTIA when Army Specialist Justin Colley walked out of the gate.
He's stationed at Ft. Drum in New York, but calls Eden home.
We asked him what he's looking forward to the most on this visit, and he said his grandmother's home-cooked spaghetti.
His mother Judy said seeing him safe is a weight off her shoulders.
"Knowing what he was going to go through was very scary," she said. "So many of those soldiers don't come back home, and I have been very blessed that mine has."
Justin will be home for 30 days before he heads back to Ft. Drum.
