Nashville, TN -- Eddy Arnold's wife, and the inspiration for many of his love songs, has died. Sally Gayhart Arnold was 87. She'd been hospitalized over the weekend with breathing difficulties.
The couple married in 1941 and were described as two peas in a pod who relished their morning walks together. Friends say she supported him in his career and helped handle his business dealings.
Her death comes as Arnold recuperates from hip replacement surgery in a different hospital. Arnold's hits include "Make the World Go Away" and "Bouquet of Roses."
