Undated -- Motorcycle deaths have doubled in the last 10 years. Now the National Transportation Safety Board is urging states to adopt tougher helmet laws.
According to the NTSB non-helmet riders are three times more likely to suffer brain in jury in a crash as those wearing helmets.
Right now 20 states and D.C. require riders to wear helmets. 27 require helmets for some rides, typically those under 21. Three states Iowa, Illionois, and New Hampshire have no helmet laws. In North Carolina, all riders must wear helmets.
