Greensboro, NC -- Greensboro City attorneys want a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit connected to the ongoing probe into police wrongdoing. They say an officer who questioned a woman in a local hotel room was acting as a federal agent so the city cannot be held liable.
Nicole Pettiford says officer Scott Sanders held her against her will for 6 hours. She says Sanders questioned her about "specific black police officers."
Sanders was part of the special intelligence squad accused of targeting black officers. Sanders is currently on paid suspension pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
The city released a taped conversation between the assistant US Attorney and Sanders. The US attorney confirmed the Pettiford case was a federal investigation and he stood behind everything Sanders did.
We tried to contact the US attorney but he did not return out calls.
