GREENSBORO, N.C. - Tuesday, Representative Alma Adams said she will not seek re-election for her 58th District state house seat.
Instead she will focus her attention on the 12th Congressional District race, which recently became vacant after Mel Watt resigned.
Watt moved to Washington D.C. to lead the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
Rep. Adams stated, "It has been a great honor to serve the people of the 58th District for the past 21 years. I have been truly blessed to have had the support and encouragement of so many people and will always chrish the faith and confidence placed in by the people in this district."
Rep. Adams' open seat will be the first opening in over 20 years.
