GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro City Manager Denise Turner Roth is leaving after President Barack Obama appointed her to a new job.
Roth will serve as the deputy administrator of the U.S. General Services Adminstration (GSA). She will start her new role in her hometown of Washington, D.C., on Feb. 3.
Roth has been a city employee since 2008. She worked as the city manager since 2011.
"This appointment will challenge me professionally, allowing me to focus my efforts on delivering cost savings and value across the federal government." Roth said in a statement. "It's bittersweet to leave Greensboro, a place that I've called home for 10 years now, and a city that I dearly love."
The GSA manages government assets, coordinates acquisitions and creates technology solutions.
