RALEIGH, N.C. -- Some students from a Raleigh elementary school didn't get home until hours after school let out Tuesday because a substitute bus driver was lost.

According to WRAL-TV, a school spokesperson said the driver was transporting students from Wildwood Forest Elementary School and had the wrong route information. The driver got lost and took them to West Millbrook Middle School.

Some of the students didn't get home until 7 p.m.

A school spokesperson said students on the bus realized right away they were not on the correct route and tried to tell the driver.

Wake County School officials are investigating the incident.
