GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Thousands of jobs could possibly be "flying" into the Triad soon.

Greensboro Council member Zach Matheny confirmed to WFMY News 2 that the city is putting together a proposal to recruit Boeing to Greensboro.

Matheny says everyone on council is on board and have been working on the proposal for less than 3 months.

Greensboro is one of 3 places in the state vying to recruit Boeing and is one of about 30 cities in the country.

As Greensboro already has several established aviation companies such as Honda Jet, this move would be another step forward for the city establishing itself as the Aviation Capital.

Matheny says he thinks the community is very supportive of the aviation community and the workforce is already geared towards it.

PTI already has the land Boeing would need and is in the process of building the connector bridge between it and the airport.

According to Matheny, the proposal will be submitted soon and the city should find out if they are still in the running in the next couple of months.
