OAK RIDGE, N.C. -- NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick and his wife have sent out tweets and posted pictures on Instagram thanking the Oak Ridge Fire Department for saving their home.

Firefighters were dispatched to the couple's house around 12:16 a.m. Wednesday after a 911 call. Chief Steve Simmons with Oak Ridge fire confirmed to WFMY News 2 that they were at the house on a fire early this morning.

He also confirmed that the fire was in the basement area of the house. The family was at home when the fire started, but everyone got out of the house safely, Simmons said.

Chief Simmons said they don't have a cause on the fire yet or an estimate of damages.

@KevinHarvickInc provided this statement to WFMY News 2 about the fire: "Last night the local fire department was called to the Harvick's house where a fire started in the basement in the early morning hours. There was structural and smoke damage within the area. Kevin, DeLana and Keelan were not injured. Thank you all for the outpouring of concern."
