GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Jamal Fox, a candidate for Greensboro City Council District 2, has been suspended from his teaching position at N.C. A&T State University after violating a political activity policy.
An A&T spokesperson says Fox did not seek the school's permission before announcing he is running for office, a policy set in place by the UNC school system. Fox was suspended with pay Tuesday.

Officials said they were unaware Fox was running, but learned about it from Fox's opponent, Jim Kee.
The school says Kee also claimed Fox is trading good grades for votes with his students. That issue is under investigation.
