On Sunday, Portia Shipman, with the Sherri Denese Jackson Foundation, told WFMY News 2 Armstrong's three sons buried their father over the weekend. They will come back to start making arrangements for Laurrissa.
Late Saturday, an Armstrong family spokesperson, Terri Harris, released the following statement:
The Armstrong family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, kind words and support during this difficult time. Laurrissa was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, great friend and teacher whose kindness, support, encouragement and unconditional love will be tremendously missed. The family has suffered a tragic loss. Again, we thank you for your concern and support and ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grief.
The family hopes that this case will draw attention to domestic violence and what happens in the court process.
At the beginning of September, 2 Wants To Know reviewed court documents in which Laurrissa was denied a protective order filed against her husband.
