Trinity, NC-- A disagreement that started between two drivers early Tuesday morning ended with one man taking a trip to the hospital. Sheriff's deputies say it was a road rage incident that ended violently.

The investigation started when deputies were dispatched around 8:15 a.m. to the intersection of US Highway 64 West and Bescher Chapel Road in the Trinity area of Randolph County. When deputies arrived, they found Dalton Daniels on the side of the road with a head injury.

Daniels told officers another driver attacked and beat him with a bat after a road rage incident. The police report stated that both drivers were traveling east on US Highway 64 when an argument started between Daniels and man driving a black Ford Mustang. Daniels said the driver rolled up on him quickly, followed closely and then passed him.

Both drivers pulled over and Daniels said that's when the other driver got out of his car, came up to his truck and began assaulting him with a baseball bat.

Daniels was transported to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Deputies say they don't have an identity on the Mustang driver or his passengers. Investigators said the car is a 2000's model black Ford Mustang with green and purple flames on it. The car was driven by a white male and had two white female passengers inside.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who can identify the suspect is asked to call Randolph County Crime Stoppers at (336)672-7463.
