Men Charged In Asheboro Kidnapping And Robbery, Police Say

Asheboro, N.C. -- The Asheboro Police Department arrested two men in connection with a robbery and kidnapping that happened Tuesday morning.

Police said the victim told them that he and a friend were robbed and kidnapped at gunpoint by two men. The victim reported that the men stole a number of items including a pistol and electronics worth $3,600. The suspects forced the victims to drive to the west side of the town, where they said the robbers ran off.

Investigators later issued a warrant for the arrest of Daniel Gatewood. They also arrested Devin Baker where police found the stolen pistol on him.

Investigators issued a search warrant at Baker's home on Lee Street where they found all the stolen items. They also found items stolen from a previous break-in. They found a total of $8,000 of stolen goods.

Baker is charged with 2 counts Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, 2 counts First Degree Kidnapping, 2 counts communicating threats, 2 counts Felony Larceny, Larceny of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, First Degree Burglary, 2 counts of Possession of Stolen Goods, and PWIMSD Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Gatewood is charged with 2 counts of Second Degree Kidnapping, Aid and Abet Armed Robbery, Felony Larceny, Possession of Stolen Property, Larceny of a Firearm.
