Raleigh, NC -- More than 100 people are facing police charges following the eighth week of protests at the North Carolina legislature against Republican policies they consider unfair.

The event's largest crowd yet rallied behind the General Assembly on Monday as part of what have become weekly demonstrations. The new arrests bring the total number of demonstrators facing charges to more than 550 people.

Protesters are angry over the rightward direction of the state on economic, social, education and voting policy. They focused much of their demonstration Monday on looming unemployment benefits cuts that will end extended benefits for about 70,000 people at the end of June.

Protesters decried a decision by the conservative Civitas Institute to publish photos and employment information of those arrested.
