Greensboro, NC -- The Greensboro Police Department is closing off portions of Marion Street and West Meadowview Drive for the "Color Me Rad" 5K Race.
On Saturday, more than 8,000 runners are expected to take part in the race.
Police are also closing one southbound lane of Coliseum Boulevard. More than 40 police officers will be at various intersections throughout the day and evening. All roads should be open by 11:00 p.m.
During the race participants will be bombarded with color that tie-dyes their t-shirts. It's thought to brighten their outlook on life. After the complete the 3.1 mile course they'll declare themselves rad by tossing their own bags of color in the air.
The FDA has approved the colored cornstarch and they'll use nearly 5,000 lbs. of it. More than 200,000 runners in 36 cities participated in the event last year across the U.S. and Canada.
