Sheriff Barnes said the men used a piece of metal from a ceiling grate as a tool to pry and cut a piece of metal covering the window. Sheriff Barnes said Jose Idel Sid had been inside the same cell since September 2012.
According to Powers, they have launched an internal investigation at the jail.
Powers said they're looking to see what policies and procedures were not followed and what needs to change.
The Sheriff's office does not know what the inmates were wearing. According to Powers, they found their jumpsuits left in the cell.
