High Point, NC -  If you want to see a great line up of dancers and help a good cause at the same time, we have the perfect event for you.  The third annual Communities In Schools Dancing With The High Point Stars event is this Saturday, Feb. 23rd at Showplace in Downtown High Point.

High Point's local "stars" will be paired with professional dancers from the Fred Astaire Dance Studios. Last year's event was attended by 500 people and raised 45,000 dollars for Communities In Schools programs.

The local dancers include Bernita Sims (Mayor, City of High Point), CeCe Biesecker (Cyoga Studios), , Matt Cothran (Smart Choice), Matt Thiel, Melissa Calabrese (Licensed Real Estate Broker and Insurance Agent), Rosalyn Pauling (Ralph Lauren), Tammy Nagem (High Point Market Authority), and Wil Elder (NC Shakespeare).

WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain is honored to be the event's co-emcee along with Jim Morgan, the event's winner in 2011.

Ticket sales and voting for your favorite local star will raise funds for Communities In Schools of High Point.  Communities In Schools empowers students to stay in school and achieve in life.  In the 2011-2012 school year CIS served 6510 students at 10 High Point schools.  One hundred percent of CIS seniors graduated and either went to college, entered the work force or the military.

Admission for the event is $40, which includes one "vote" along with heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages.  But, you do not have to attend the event to participate.  Anyone can cast a "vote" for $10 and you can cast as many votes as you like.
