Baby Jaxx X-rays taken on January 7, 2013.
Philadelphia, PA -- Jaxx Denny is recovering in Philadelphia after a successful surgery Tuesday afternoon.
Baby Jaxx was born with a severely curved spine, no kidney and missing six ribs.
To help him grow, doctors surgically implanted metal rods in his body, giving him a rib cage and a new spine. Every now and then, doctors have to go in and expand those rods to make him taller.
Well, Tuesday was one of those days.
The Dennys got a real scare when Jaxx nearly died following his first expansion surgery, but today, his parents say everything looks good.
"No scary moments for us so far," said Tammy Denny, Jaxx's mom. "He's doing very, very good."
"It's all been pretty smooth," said Pete Denny, Jaxx's dad. "And thank you guys so much for praying for our son. We're forever indebted to you for that."
The Dennys say Jaxx is on a lot of pain medicine and a ventilator, but they hope he'll be off the ventilator tomorrow and back home by the end of the week.
