Greensboro, NC - Nearly 400 children in Greensboro will have no presents to open Christmas morning, according to a church volunteer.

The church said they found out a non-profit was not going to be able to help them.

"He was like, no we don't have anything, there is nothing really we can do for you, we just don't have anything at this point," explained Ange'le' Simpson.

Simpson volunteers at Fruit of the Spirit Ministries and says she coordinated this toy drive this year.

Last month, Simpson says she submitted more than 400 requests for toys but Friday, 3 days before Christmas, she says she found out the non-profit can't fill her entire request.

Simpson says in mid-November, they received nearly 100 toys from the non-profit.

"400 children, and they're children, I mean, they don't know the circumstances or how they get toys, they just know, when they look under their tree, on Christmas Day, they want something, and I have the heart for children but it just breaks my heart knowing it's a possibility that they get nothing," said Simpson.

Armed with hope, Simpson is asking the community to help these children have Christmas.

She needs toys for boys and girls, ranging from 12 years old, to newborns.

"We've had requests for bikes, books, electronics, dolls, we had an abundance of newborns, and the age between newborn and 3, we've had a lot of requests for that age and those are the hard ones to get donations from," explained Simpson.

Simpson will be collecting donations Saturday, December 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, December 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fruit of the Spirit Ministries. Their address is 1401 S. Eugene St, Greensboro, NC 27406.

Requests for gifts include:
Bicycle
Nintendo DS Gaming System
Leap Frog Learning System
Basketball
Coloring Books
Journals
Comics
Clothes for newborns
Toys
Dolls

"My hope is that the children, all of my children will be blessed with a toy, even if it's just one, just so they can have something that's my miracle for Christmas," said Simpson.
