Greensboro, NC -- Presidents Thomas Jefferson and Bill Clinton, former New York governor Eliot Spitzer and former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford, former Senator John Edwards, former Representative Anthony Weiner, former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and now former CIA director, General David Petraeus. He's the latest in the long list of leaders who now have asterisks next to their names after sex scandals. Petraeus resigned last week after admitting to an extra-martial affair.

Petraeus and biographer Paula Broadwell met at Harvard University in 2006. She started interviewing him for a biography in 2008, while he was head of Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base. April 28th, 2011, Petraeus was named director of the CIA.

The investigation into Patraeus began when a Florida socialite Jill Kelley reported a harassing email to the FBI this May. Last month, the FBI interviewed Petraeus and Broadwell, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor found out about the FBI probe. And last week everything started to unravel. Petraeus met with the president and resigned on November 8th, and the resignation was announced to the public on November 9th.

Investigators say they "stumbled across" the affair while investigating those harassing emails to Jill Kelley. Officials believe those emails came from Broadwell, who they say believed Kelley was a romantic rival. But Petraeus tells family and friends there was only one affair and that it started after he took over the CIA.

Broadwell, her husband, and two kids live in Dilworth, North Carolina, which is just outside Charlotte. Monday night, FBI agents raided their home. Agents entered with boxes and containers. There's no word on what they may have been looking for..

But in the meantime, the four-month FBI investigation did not find any evidence of an intelligence breach.

But why do we seem to see so many people in power entangled in infidelity? Therapist Nannette Funderburk with the S.E.L. Group joined Frank Mickens on WFMY News 2 at 11:00 with the answer. Funderburk also explained whether or not infidelity means someone is unfit to lead, and how a leader's extra marital relationship impacts others.
