Rockingham County, N.C. -- The murders of Troy and LaDonna French continue to create concern for people living in Rockingham County. Sheriff Sam Page assured community members the investigation is moving forward, and that brought some comfort to the owner of Moore's Grocery store.
Thomas Moore was friends with the French family. After hearing Sheriff Page's update, he said, "It gives us a bit more hope. We feel like they'll catch
him soon. But, you know, they can't turn loose all the information
they've got, and tip off whoever done it."
A blue ribbon of support still hangs on the cash register inside Moore's store.
Ken Holt, another local resident, said, "I hope they get him wherever he lives at. That way, everybody else can go on with their life. It's been scary around here. You don't ever know what you're going to run into."
People in town told WFMY News 2 they never used to lock their doors. Now, they don't even think about going to bed without locking up. Several said they won't feel safe until they know the sheriff has the killer in custody.
