South Carolina-- A Greenville man won $200,000 after purchasing a scratch off from store on West Washington Street in the city's business district, a spokeswoman said.
"This will put me where I need to be," said the man, declining to be identified.
The man told Lottery officials that he purchased the $10 scratch off from Simons Liquors, Inc., at 706 W. Washington St., said spokeswoman Holli Armstrong.
The Greenville native said he's had some hard times of late because of decline in construction jobs in the Upstate.
"I went to the rescue mission to get my life together," he said, adding that he's not ashamed to admit he needed a helping hand.
For selling the ticket, Simons gets $2,000," Armstrong said.
Since its beginning in 2002, the Lottery has given $2.8 billion to educational programs statewide, she said.
