MEDINA COUNTY, OH (WKYC) -- As expected, Nathan Summerfield did not fight extradition in a hearing Friday morning and will be taken to North Carolina to face charges in the death of Lynn Jackenheimer.

The hearing was held in Medina County Common Pleas Court before Judge James Kimbler. Summerfield was escorted into the courtroom wearing an orange jumpsuit and shackles around his wrists.

"Mr. Summerfield, you understand that if you waive hearing you will be returned to the state of North Carolina?" The judge asked. "Do you understand that?"

Summerfield said he understood.

"Has anybody made any threats or promises to get you to waive this hearing?" Judge Kimbler continued.

Summerfield shook his head and said no.

After some paperwork was signed, Summerfield was escorted out of the courtroom. He had been there for less than five minutes.

Before he is transported back to North Carolina, which could be as early as today, Summerfield will be processed at the Medina County Jail.

Summerfield had been held in isolation in the Medina County Jail since his arrest earlier this week at a motel in Wadsworth. He had been on the run for more than a month.

Jackenheimer, of Ashland, disappeared while on vacation with Summerfield and her two children. Searchers found her body in mid-July in Frisco, North Carolina. She had been strangled and stabbed.
