ROCHESTER, Minn. - Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. is in Rochester, Minn. for treatment at the Mayo Clinic.
In a statement released Friday, the hospital says Jackson is at Mayo for extensive inpatient evaluation for depression and for gastrointestinal issues.
The statement did not reveal Jackson's whereabouts before Friday.
The statement went on to say Jackson and his family are "grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers that have been received throughout his care."
Jackson has been on medical leave from Congress for weeks. Initially, his office said Jackson was being treated for exhaustion. But his staff later said Jackson's condition is more serious and requires inpatient medical treatment. They also said Jackson has been grappling with emotional issues.
No details on Jackson's whereabouts or exact medical condition had been released until Friday.
