Triad, NC-- One week after the Aurora mass shooting, the Triad sympathy card is being displayed in a temporary memorial outside Aurora City Hall.
People here in the Triad wanted to do something after the worst mass shooting in our nation's history.
Our News 2 family started a giant sympathy card and took it to locations all over the Triad collecting signatures. Exactly one week after the shooting, our sympathy card is being displayed in a temporary memorial outside Aurora City Hall.
The four poster boards and big card are being displayed against a fountain.
Since the shooting, our Triad sympathy card acquired hundreds of signatures, filling up the front and back of four poster boards.
From Winston-Salem to Burlington and Greensboro in between, healing words and supportive messages were written by children and adults of all different backgrounds, just wanting to reflect and mourn for the community of Aurora.
Representatives from the city of Aurora told News 2 they appreciate the outpouring of support from the Triad. They've received cards and letters from around the world.
In the week since the sympathy card circulated around the Triad, News 2 received e-mails from around the country. From Cleveland to California, people were requesting an address to send their own sympathy cards to Aurora.
