Frisco, NC-- Monday, the Dare County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the body found in North Carolina was Lynn Jackenheimer, the missing Ashland, Ohio mom.
The body was found in Frisco, NC on Saturday, July 14 by someone at a local Realty company. Deputies said the person noticed the body in the brush near the tree line. It was in an area the family and investigators searched last week.
Tuesday, the Dare County Sheriff's Office announced at a news conference that Jackenheimer had stab wounds and was strangled.
Sheriff J.D. Doughtie said a First Degree Murder warrant for Nate Summerfield, Jackenheimer's estranged boyfriend is still active.
Jackenheimer disappeared during a July 4 trip to the Outerbanks with Summerfield and her children. Summerfield returned the children and hasn't been seen since.
Summerfield's brother called 911 and told investigators that his brother told him he had strangled Jackenheimer.
