Danville, VA - This is not the happy Easter Bunny story we're used to hearing this time of year.

Danville Police arrested and charged 24-year-old Joshua Lee Bolling, of Danville, with illegally possessing prescription narcotics.

Bolling was arrested while working as the costumed Easter Bunny on Friday, at Danville's Piedmont Mall.  According to their media release, police started investigating after receiving complaints from mall businesses and management.

Witnesses told police the Easter Bunny was acting suspicious while on break, but not during his contact with children.

Bolling was not a mall employee but worked for a company hired to provide Easter fun.

Mall management and security worked with the Danville Police Department Street Crimes Unit to observe Bolling's activities.  They eventually caught Bolling with pills they say Bolling did not have a valid prescription for.

Officers walked him away from the public area so no one would see the Easter Bunny get arrested.
