Greensboro, NC-- People in the Triad love their local and national parks. This means visitors who come from far and near are also spending money in the areas where the parks are located.
One park that seems to be popular among locals and out-of-towners is the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park in Greensboro.
A report released by the National Park Service (NPS) shows that 228,000 visitors came to the Guilford Military Park in 2010. Along with the visits, $14.2 million in revenue was generated. The money supports 228 jobs in the area, according to the report.
Park Superintendent Charles Cranfield said this about the report: "The people and the business owners in communities near the national parks have always known their economic value." "Guilford Courthouse National Military Park is about preserving history but it has a clear impact on our local economy as well."
