Reidsville, NC -- The Rockingham County Sheriff's Department is investigating a home invasion that left two people dead and their daughter injured in the Bethany community near Reidsville.

According to Sheriff Sam Page, dispatchers got a call about a home invasion from someone on Pinewood Road just after 2 a.m. Saturday.

Deputies found Douglas Troy French, 49, and his wife, Ladonna Mosely French, 46, shot to death inside the house. Whitley Morgan French, 19, went to Annie Penn Hospital to be treated for cuts. Sheriff Page said he thinks she is now out of the hospital.

"It is a very, very tragic situation," Sheriff Page said. "I feel for this family and the families that are involved. Please keep them in your prayers."

The sheriff said preliminary information about the suspect is that he's male, was dressed in dark clothing, had a handgun and took off running from the house after the shootings. Investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation were assisting deputies.

"Everybody's working together and I feel like we'll be able to figure out what happened down here and who was involved," the sheriff said. "It's just a matter of time."

Sheriff Page expects it will take a while for the people in this close-knit community to get over the shock of what happened.

"I think it'll take a long time," he said. "Anytime you lose someone to an act of violence, it affects not just one person but a lot of people. And it can affect a community.

"We've got great people in Rockingham County, we got great people in the Bethany community and everybody that I saw this morning ... [has] been in a lot of support of each other, so that means an awful lot."

If you know anything that could help investigators, call detective Capt. Billy Parker at (336) 634-3232 ext. 4101, or Rockingham County Crimestoppers at (336) 349-9683.
