Greensboro, NC -- You know gas prices have been going up and down a lot lately. A News 2 viewer wanted to know why diesel doesn't do the same.

We called Tom Crosby with AAA Carolinas who says it's about demand.

Crosby told us there isn't a fluctuation in demand for diesel like there is for gas. Diesel tends to have longer-term contracts, so the prices stay steadier.

However, Crosby told us diesel prices have been inching up. They're up $0.60 from this time last year. Gas prices are up $0.38 in the same time period.
